This is a distressing election cycle to be sure. I had been optimistic and willing to be open minded about all the candidates running including a very surprising Donald Trump. I was eager and willing to back any candidate with an R after their name. And goodness – we had an amazing array of good people running.
But what should have been a serious and substantive campaign has turned into a joke. The blame for that can clearly be laid at the feet of Donald Trump. He has proven himself to be crude and rude at every turn and has shown himself amazingly ignorant. Clever and shrewd to be sure BUT that is not intelligence.
I share Michel Medved’s concern that the Republican Party is in the midst of a hostile take-over. Trump believes in abortion on demand; he is uncomfortable with the idea of guns; he is for a single- payer health care; he is for larger government and more taxes. What is conservative about that??
Until the convention I will fight a Donald Trump candidacy by any means I have. I am saddened that people read into Trump’s words their own beliefs. How can we be so delusional? As a Christian I can only think that satan is well doing his job in deceiving the Saints. That said, I will back any other candidate for the nomination of the party.
I have heard Michael Medved vehemently stand for truth with callers who seem to be bent on hearing what they want from the mouth of Donald Trump. And I have also heard him say (Friday, March 5, 2016) he would rather have Trump nominating a Supreme Court Justice than Hillary Clinton, so I am not sure how we get from there to he will vote for Clinton rather than Trump for the presidency. With all due respect, please, let’s be sure that we know truly where Michael Medved is on this issue before we encourage a walk out on a man who loves this country and has worked tirelessly to make it better.
